After Lice Treatment Instruction

Post treatment instructions:

CONTROL YOUR ENVIRONMENT

Head lice cannot jump, fly, or swim, and they are usually spread by direct head-to-head contact with another person who has lice.

To reduce the chances of getting re-infested from another person or from items that may have lice on them, it is important you:

Check all family members and close friends for signs of head lice. Seek a LouseBuster™ head lice treatment as soon as possible for all suspected cases. Avoid head-to-head and hand-to-head contact with anyone who has lice.

Take the following measures in your home:
- Vacuum rugs, carpets, car seats and furniture (including mattresses)  throw used vacuum bag in outside garbage;

- Wash bedding, towels and clothing in very hot water (above 130 degrees);

- Throw pillows, stuffed animals etc. into your dryer for 20-30 minutes at the highest heat or seal in plastic bags for over 48 hours;

- Boil hair ties/hair brushes/combs for 10-20 minutes or freeze them in a plastic bag overnight.
Head lice cannot survive off of a human head for more than 24 to 48 hours.We recommend that you do not use pesticide sprays in your home; they will unnecessarily expose your household to harmful chemicals.

CONTINUE TO CHECK REGULARLY FOR HEAD LICE

We as well as the NPA  do recommend that periodic combing with a louse comb after the treatment is done to guard against re-infestation. Checking the scalp and hair of all family members for 10 days after treatment is recommended:
- Examine head in a well lit area (use a bright light of go outdoors)

- Part the hair and look carefully at the scalp, behind the ears and the nape of neck these are hot spots
